What You Can and Can’t Recycle with Us

Recycling is a crucial part of conserving our environment and reducing waste. However, knowing what can and can’t be recycled can sometimes be confusing. This guide aims to clear up any uncertainties and help you recycle more effectively.

Plastics

While we accept the majority of household plastics, it’s important to note that not all plastics are recyclable. Typically, if it is not an everyday plastic, you have to find the recycling number, which can be difficult. Items such as toys, storage containers, and pool floats fall into the category of non-everyday plastics. For these less common items, identifying the type of plastic is crucial because it determines which recycling facility can process them. If the plastic type isn’t specified, recycling becomes impossible.

Especially for uncommon plastics lacking recycling symbols, it’s essential to avoid placing them in the recycling bin.

Examples of Recyclable Plastics: Plastic plant containers often have the #5 recycling symbols, which helps us identify and properly send them to Nexus Circular for processing. However, please remember to rinse out any soil before recycling.

Examples of Non-Recyclable Plastics: Items such as kids’ toys or plastic-framed sunglasses that lack a recycling identification symbol cannot be recycled. Without this symbol, we cannot determine the type of plastic and, therefore, cannot process these items.
